The Best Practice Forum is the ultimate peer exchange on critical issues facing CI professionals, their teams and organizations. The goal of this program is to provide an information rich environment through the facilitation of peer interaction, examination and discussion of Best Practice case studies and the establishment of a stronger CI community.

This Forum Is Designed for:

    This forum is designed specifically for the CI manager. It delivers innovative, practical solutions to your day-to-day and long term planning challenges that allows your department to stay ahead of the curve and grow its credibility in the organization.

    Join us to examine the dynamics of integrating CI into an organizational culture, and the tools and processes you can use to leverage your department and organizational talent. The forum environment allows you to explore best practices and key strategies through thought leadership and real world case examples that you can use immediately. The interactive facilitated discussion format provides time for valuable networking, open discussion with your peers and creating actionable, results oriented plans in a peer-to-peer environment.

    The forum opens with Joe Goldberg, Director, Business Intelligence, Motorola, sharing his war stories, success stories and why he has remained in this profession for so long.

    Timothy Kindler, Director, Competitive Intelligence, Eastman Kodak Company

    Tim is the Director of Corporate Competitive Intelligence at Eastman Kodak Company, winner of the Society of Competitive Intelligence (SCIP) Team Excellence Award in 2001. He has been in Competitive Intelligence (CI) for twelve years and has directed Corporate CI at Kodak since 1998.

    Tim was elected to the board of directors of SCIP from 2004-2006 and served as President in 2005. Prior to joining the board of directors, Tim was active in the Upstate New York Chapter of SCIP and served on the SCIP Nominating Committee for three years. He has been a member of the Conference Board Council on Competitive Analysis since 1998 and served on the council Executive Committee from 1999-2002. He held the position of Council Chairman in 2000-2001.

    Tim received a B.S. degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from Villanova University and an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester.

    Joe Goldberg, Director, Business Intelligence, Motorola

    Joe is Director, Business Intelligence in Motorola’s Corporate Strategy Office. He is responsible for the business intelligence processes and competitive analysis and collection on a worldwide basis. He has been at Motorola since 1993 in this, and related, positions. Prior to joining Motorola, he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for eight years where he was involved in all facets of intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination. Before joining the government, Joe worked in the Media and Business Research departments of Frank N. Magid & Associates, a leading media research and consultation firm. Joe has been a Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) member since 1994 and is currently serving on SCIP’s board of directors as Vice President as well as Chair of the Competitive Intelligence Foundation. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science, and Communications and Theater Arts, from the University of Iowa, and a Master of Arts degree from Iowa in Communications and Theater Arts.

    Connie Hubbard, CI Manager, DuPont

    Connie Hubbard is the Competitive Intelligence Manager for the DuPont Titanium Technologies (DTT) SBU, which has annual sales in excess of $2 billion. She is responsible for the competitive intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination on a worldwide basis and is actively engaged in the strategy development for the business. The DTT competitive intelligence system is regarded as best in class within the DuPont Corporation and several other strategic business units have modeled their CI units after the DTT system. In addition, she also has responsibility for leading the corporate CI network for the entire DuPont Corporation to help build the competency of DuPont’s global intelligence network. Connie has 26 years of experience with DuPont and has worked in Technical Service, Applications Research and Marketing Research for the Chemicals and Titanium dioxide businesses. Since 2004, Connie has represented DuPont on the Conference Board’s Competitive Intelligence Council. She holds a BS degree in Chemistry from Widener University.

    Garn Anderson, Director, Information & Intelligence, Energizer/Schick-Wilkinson Sword

    Since 1998, Garn Anderson has led Energizer's global Business Intelligence / Competitive Intelligence (BI/CI) process to support new product development, strategic R&D and other key business decisions. He has institutionalized a best-in-class BI/CI program and established an innovative process to codify tacit knowledge at Energizer. His multi-faceted initiatives and strategic findings have been instrumental in enabling multi-million dollar business decisions. In 2003, he established Schick-Wilkinson Sword's formal BI/CI program. He has over twenty years of U.S. Government intelligence experience, and was awarded the CIA's prestigious Intelligence Commendation Medal. He has a BA in History from The American University and MBA from The Myers University. Garn has mentored a number of corporations and companies by helping them to develop and implement a formal BI/CI. Garn is a member of the Intelligence Leadership Forum (ILF) and serves on the Competitive Intelligence Foundation Body of Knowledge Steering Committee.

    Nat Brooks, Global Competitive Intelligence Program Manager, Procter & Gamble

    Nat is the Global Program Manager for P&G Competitive Intelligence function. He directly manages a team of six who own P&G’s technical and competitive intelligence capabilities and technologies. His team reports to the Director of Corporate Strategic Planning and ultimately to P&G’s CFO. In addition to his corporate team, Nat oversees a global network of 520 intelligence leaders and operatives. Nat is a member of P&G’s prestigious CFO Circle, an organization that recognizes the company’s senior experts in key functional priorities such as competitive intelligence. Nat is also a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals and the Conference Board’s Competitive Intelligence Working Group. He holds a degree from Denison University.

    Adam Bernard, Manager, Competitor Intelligence, General Motors

    While at MIT, Bernard interned at General Motors, working in the strategic planning department at design on market research, brand development, and competitor intelligence, and joined GM fulltime after graduation in 1986. In 1990, he obtained his MBA from Harvard and returned to GM, where he represented design within GM's intelligence community. In 1999 he moved from design to GM intelligence as manager and team leader for product intelligence, where he has helped build GM's global intelligence network.

    Cancellation Policy

    Cancellation policy and fees: All requests for refunds must be made in writing. For requests received within 72 hours of registration, no cancellation fee will be incurred. Should you be unable to attend for any reason, please inform us IN WRITING no later than 21 days prior to the start date of the event. A credit voucher for the full registration amount will be issued or, if requested, a cash refund, less a 20% cancellation fee. No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations received less than 22 days prior to the event start date. There are no exceptions to these policies.

    Registration Transfer and No-Show policy and fees: All requests for transfers of registrations must be made in writing. Transfers may result in additional fees depending on SCIP membership status. There will be no refunds on transfers. No-Shows will not be eligible for any refunds and forfeit the registration fees paid. There are no exceptions to these policies.
